La Tabla, Estonia (Tallinn Restaurant Week)
When it gets cold and starts to snow, there's no salad mood in my head. It's all about warm and hot dishes, and occasional salad for a change.
Walking through thick snowfall we arrive to Telliskivi creative city and are lead to our table at La Tabla.
Chef Mihkel Kalbus
- White Marlin ceviche, tomato, puréed avocado, crispy corn chips
- Pechuga de pato - Roast duck fillet, toasted polenta, marinated cumquats, pak choi fried with chimichurri, orange-chipotle sauce, banana chips
- Flan de Café - Espresso-flan, tropical fruit sorbet, caramelised nuts, orange and rum sauce
Everything on the plate tastes fresh, light, and there's added some crisp to wake you up from day dreaming about sandy beaches.
Wow, that was some main course. In the middle of enjoying my Pechuga de pato, i started to make some decisions what i absolutely not can't leave on plate. Duck was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, cumquats gave nice citric touch. My favourite were banana chips.
They saved the best for last - dessert. Flan reminded me of French creme brulee. I loved all the nuts and fruits surrounding flan.
Portions in La Tabla are honest and decent. The service was fast and friendly and after an hour we headed home through nice snow fall...
